Still no Chloe…yet
, 09 29th, 2008Although Chloe remains pretty active in Elana’s belly, she still doesn’t seem too ready to show herself. We’ll see the Doc tomorrow for some standard tests but it’s hard to say whether her appearance will be today…tomorrow…next week??
Stay tuned. I’ll try to write a quick update like this each day. Meantime, here’s a random photo from the archives that Erica S. took with our camera on the night of her birthday:
Hint: it’s a sailboat on the Hudson at night (Statue of Liberty is just off it’s bow). Quite an abstract shot. Erica would say intentional but…let’s just say…the boat was quite still while Erica (on terra firma) was rocking.
Loving life!

So, my plan worked. I overheard my Mom saying that she was going to be home from work starting on the 15th with the hopes that Chloe was going to be here early and
she could take the time to prepare the house and the new room (which most of the toys and cozy chair were purchased I’m sure, with me in mind ). I knew this was my big chance to get lots of attention, go for lots of walks, and score some extra leftovers at breakfast…if only Chloe would come later (if this person is anything like my parents, who are usually late for everything, I know I have plenty more ME time).
I really have no idea who Chloe is, I just hear them saying her name a lot lately and I’m thinking that it’s a friend coming to visit who will pay lots of attention to me when she arrives. I just hope she likes naps and food as much as I do.
It’s been 2 weeks and 2 days of sheer bliss. Ok, when she was vacuuming, cleaning the bathrooms, dusting, doing laundry and organizing things, I couldn’t sleep and followed her around everywhere, but the lack of sleep has been well worth it. She’s also packed a bag for me with food, toys and my leash which have been sitting by the door so…I’m anxiously waiting to see when and where I’m going. I love getaways!
Ok, time to go back to sleep and dream about car rides and mealtime.
Still waiting
, 09 27th, 2008Well it appears Chloe is more than content in her current habitat. We’ve just entered the first day beyond her due date and no amount of eggplant parmagian or jumping jacks seem capable of coaxing her out. Maybe it’s the economy? Maybe she’s holding out for change in our current administration? Whatever the motivation, Dr Wong has assured us that she is facing the right way, has plenty of food and is really quite comfortable to ride out her extended stay. Meantime, Tazzie is really enjoying all the home time and unused reserves of coddling and attention that were meant for Chloe but continue to be directed at him. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if Taz has somehow connected with Chloe and asked her to stay put for a while.
Elana continues to do well but is very eager to have her body back and actually get to sleep on her stomach for the first time in months. We’re both extremely excited and can’t wait to meet our little girl. We’ve received many phone calls and emails over the past couple of days from friends and family eager for updates. Thanks for those! I’ll try to reach out to all of you once the first signs of labor are evident otherwise, check the blog regularly as I plan to post small updates when the time comes. Meantime, we’ll finish off the nursery, pamper Taz and read baby magazines as Chloe continues to enjoy her room service and late checkout.
If you build it, she will come
, 09 21st, 2008It’s been so long since I’ve written an entry and we can’t believe that there are only 5 days until our due date. (We’ll see when Chloe decides to show up!) About a month ago Amy came over and helped James and I transform the office/guest room into a nursery.
While Amy had worked her magic on photoshop creating awesome stencils, James thought up an idea that you see in the pictures below. We took a branch of cherry blossoms, propped it up on a box and put lamps behind it to cast a shadow on the wall.
We then really roughly traced the outline and I let Amy loose with a paintbrush. It turned into a much easier project than we all thought it would be and we are so excited how it turned out. Thanks Amy!!
More pictures of Chloe’s room will be posted shortly. We have all of the furniture and are adding the finishing touches. It’s been a lot of fun creating and dreaming up her room….now we’re just anxiously waiting for the little bundle of joy to make it her own!
